Martin Crane is a composer based in Brooklyn, New York. He began his professional music career in Austin, Texas as the singer, writer, producer of Brazos (5 million+ plays on Spotify). He released 3 albums as Brazos - Phosphorescent Blues (Autobus 2010), Saltwater (Dead Oceans 2013), and Grab Hold of What Floats (2023) - and toured nationally. Brazos’ records have been reviewed in The Observer, FADER, Pitchfork, SPIN among others, and Brazos' songs have been licensed on TV shows and in commercials.
Martin began working in film in 2013 as the music supervisor for the Oscar-nominated, Emmy award-winning documentary Cutie and the Boxer. Since then, Martin's scoring work has premiered at Cannes, Sundance, SXSW, Berlinale, Tribeca, and Full Frame. Commercial clients include Gucci, GE, Chevrolet, Google, and Mazda. In 2020, he scored Season 2, Episode 2 of NETFLIX’s Dirty Money (NETFLIX) and the Tribeca 2020 doc, Picture a Scientist (NETFLIX).
Most recently, Martin's projects have expanded to TV with the 3 part, Darren Aronofsky produced doc-u-series, Black Gold (Paramount+), and the critically acclaimed, 3 part doc series, Stolen Youth (HULU) He also scored 2 acclaimed shorts, The Pass and Keys to the City, both of which premiered on the New Yorker, and a canceled MRC-produced documentary about Kanye West. His work in the upcoming NETFLIX produced documentary, The Antisocial Network, will premier at SXSW 2024.
